Government of Ontario, Ministry of Labor, Training and Skill Development AWARDs Grants to Casa Foundation for International Development to support job seekers in the East Region of Ontario
Casa Foundation for International Development (Casa Foundation) was recently awarded $950,000 by the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skill Development for the fiscal year 2022-2023 to re-skill and up-skill job seekers who are youth, women, newcomers, immigrants, and people from racialized groups through Casa Foundation’s Skill Development Program (CSDP).
The funding allows for engaging, empowering, informing, and fostering a supportive environment for the job seekers and the workers who face higher barriers to entry by providing a training environment to attain employable skills and achieve gainful employment in the digital sector.
Candidates will gain skills in Digital Marketing, Social media advertising, E-commerce, and basic financial skills, and support newcomers to Canada.
“Every day across eastern Ontario, tens of thousands of jobs are going unfilled, costing our economy billions in lost productivity,” said Monte McNaughton, Minister of Labour, Training and Skills Development. “That’s why our government is investing in innovative training programs like this, which will upskill young people, women, and newcomers to find meaningful jobs in the community and earn more take-home pay for their families.”
“Through the MLTSD funding Casa Foundation will empower, develop, and support women, youths, and immigrant groups in their career journey and connect them to our ecosystems to foster collaborations for long-term sustainability “, said Dr. Olutoyin Oyelade, President/ CEO, Casa Foundation.
The program will further embed innovation and partnership to improve the capacity building of the communities and enable them to respond to the demand-driven labor market. The integrated approach of this program encompasses mentoring, networking, career counseling, and placements for the participants. The program is also tailored to address mental health barriers to employment.
Thanks to Minister McNaughton and the Ministry of Labour, Training, and Skill Development, Ontario for supporting our initiative.
