The Skills Training & Employment Program (STEP) is a career-focused program designed to help young people build the skills, confidence, and experience needed to succeed in the Canadian workforce.
Through a combination of employment readiness training, essential workplace skills development, entrepreneurship learning, and a paid work placement, STEP supports participants in moving from unemployment toward meaningful career opportunities. The program is designed to ensure that participants leave not only with new knowledge, but also with practical experience and greater confidence for their future.
STEP is more than a training program — it is a pathway to growth, opportunity, and career success.
Participants join STEP to:
gain practical, job-ready skills
build confidence and professional identity
access mentorship, guidance, and support
improve their resumes, cover letters, and interview performance
learn valuable workplace and financial skills
explore entrepreneurship as a career option
gain paid Canadian work experience
expand their network and connect with professionals
increase their readiness for employment and long-term success
STEP is ideal for young people who are ready to invest in themselves, grow their potential, and take the next step toward employment, entrepreneurship, and leadership.
This project is funded in part by the Government of Canada’s YESS Program.
