Prime Minister Trudeau announced that businesses can begin to apply to theCanada Emergency Wage Subsidy beginning on Monday, April 27, 2020
Canada Revenue Agency has set up a calculator so employers can see how much they can expect to receive from the wage subsidy program
The subsidy is retroactive to March 15 and available to companies that lost 15 per cent of their revenue in March or 30 per cent in April- May
The federal government will pay eligible companies 75 per cent of the first $58,700 earned by each employee, up to $847 per week for up to 12 weeks.
The government has announced the Canada Emergency Commercial Rent Assistance (CECRA) for small businesses.
The rent relief plan is being worked on and details will be announced this week
Prime Minister Trudeau announced the Emergency Community Support Fund, a $350 million support to community and non-profit organizations providing COVID-19 assistance. The money will be flowed through national organizations that have the ability to get funds quickly to local organizations.
