Born on the Island of St. Kitts, Donna Walwyn is a lawyer by training, and an experienced multidisciplinary professional who focuses on governance, regulatory compliance, and risk assessment.
As a former partner in the Toronto office of Baker & McKenzie LLP, Donna advised pension plans, boards of trustees, pension and benefit committees and other organizations on legal issues related to registered pension and retirement savings plans, employee health and welfare plans, and other compensation related plans, including: plan and fund governance, regulatory compliance, plan design and administration, pension fund investment and the effective discharge of fiduciary obligations.
Donna sits on the Board of Directors of Women’s College Hospital; she is a member of the Halton Healthcare Services Board Quality and Risk Management Committee; the Corporate Governance Chair for the Black Business and Professional Association; and a member of the Board of Directors for 100Strong. Donna is a Fellow of the Leadership Council for Legal Diversity, the Past President of the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers, and a Past Chair of the Board of Directors of the Toronto Kiwanis Boys & Girls Club.
Among other awards and recognition, Donna is the recipient of a Lexpert Zenith Award for her Diversity & Inclusion Work as well as a Faculty of Law Award for Excellence in Advocacy.
Donna has a proven 20-year track record of technical excellence, taking projects to successful completion, conducting all interactions with integrity and the utmost civility, and a pragmatic and practical approach to wealth generation.
